PNC Checks

What is a PNC Check?

PNC stands for 'Police National Computer' and contains records of people have been arrested for criminal offences, amongst other details.

Why does a Good Friend or a referral need a PNC check?

PNC checks are made for the safety of both parties. If an applicant is found to have convictions, they will be barred from involvement in the project. Those who apply to become a Neighbourhood Watch member are also subject to a PNC check.

Who conducts the PNC check for Good Friends?

PNC checks are conducted by Darlington's Safer Neighbourhood Unit.
